The Ministry of Music

The Chancel Choir

Under the direction of  Glenn Siebert, the Chancel Choir has a membership of around 25 adults who sing regularly for Sunday morning worship and other special services of the Church Year. The Choir has a regular rehearsal at 7:00 p.m. each Wednesday in the Choir loft of the sanctuary. The only requirement for membership is a love for singing! If you are interested in more information, contact the church office.

The Church Band

Following the musical tradition of our church, the Calvary congregation has its own instrumental band composed of both brass and woodwind. The band’s membership is a cross section of our congregation with all ages represented. As yet another complement to worship, the band plays preludes for services of lovefeast, Holy Communion, and other festival days of the Church year. At other times, the band often accompanies congregational singing during regular services of Sunday worship. If you play an instrument and are interested in participating in the Church band, please contact the church office. The band serves under the leadership of Brother Grady Shelton, its current director.

Beginning Band Classes

Beginning Band classes are offered beginning in the fall of each year for anyone (all ages) interested in learning to play a band instrument. Classes are held on Sunday afternoons at 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of our church. (For 2005 – 2006 classes will begin in September.) Please call the church office for registration information.

Beginning and Intermediate Band classes are also offered jointly by the Salem Congregation and Home Moravian Church on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. These classes are available to anyone interested in learning to play an instrument. Contact Home Moravian Church at 336-722-6171 for more information.
