The Lord is Risen
Hear these words from Luke 24:1-7
But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel; and as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead?" Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise."
(Revised Standard Version)
Observe the window
What is the angel pointing to? Can you imagine how Mary and the others at the tomb felt when they discovered the empty tomb? Notice that the cross is in the background on Golgotha's hill. The crown of thorns are also beside the tomb. Without the cross there is no resurrection. Are there ever times in your life when you have been entombed by something? Would you like to have your tomb opened and your spirit set free? What is eternal life? Does it begin today?
Take a few minutes to be silent
Allow God to speak to you. When you are ready, speak with him. The Resurrected Christ has won the battle over sin and death. You are free. Nothing can hold you in bondage. The victory is yours for the asking. Receive it. Enjoy it. Share it. The Lord is Risen. The Lord is Risen indeed!
Prayer
O God our Father, we give you eternal thanks and praise for the resurrection of Jesus Christ! By his death and resurrection you have gained for us forgiveness for our sins and eternal life! Let us experience the power of your resurrection here, until that blessed day when we are called to our eternal home. We praise and magnify your holy name, Father, and we thank you for the victory and peace that are ours through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
