The Good Shepherd
Hear these words from John 10:11-15:
"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. He who is a hireling and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He flees because he is a hireling and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me, as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep."
(Revised Standard Version)
Observe the window
Where is your attention drawn as you look at the window? Jesus' face? The lamb in his arms? What touches you as you look at the window and think about this passage of scripture? Are you allowing Jesus to shepherd you? Are you able to trust that he will enfold you in his arms of love?
Take a few moments to be silent
Allow God to speak to you. When you are ready, speak with him concerning anything the window and the scripture have brought to your mind and heart.
Prayer
God of all power, you called from death our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep. Send us as shepherds to rescue the lost, to heal the injured, and to feed one another with knowledge and understanding; through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Read and sing these words in your heart:
Jesus makes my heart rejoice,
I'm His sheep and know His voice;
He's a Shepherd kind and gracious,
And His pastures are delicious;
Constant love to me He shows,
Yea, my very name He knows.
